Matthew O'Connell
CEO, President and Director
Mr.
O'Connell is GeoEye's President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director.
Mr. O'Connell has over 20 years of experience in communications management and finance. He came to the commercial remote sensing industry in 2001 as CEO of GeoEye's predecessor, ORBIMAGE. In January 2006, Orbimage merged with Space Imaging to form GeoEye, Inc. In 2008, GeoEye was selected by the Washington Business Journal as number four of the Fastest Growing Companies in the Washington D.C. area. In September 2008 and for the second year in a row, Deloitte named the company as a "Technology Fast 50" award winner and ranked GeoEye number 10. In May 2008, GeoEye was ranked number 82 in the Washington Post's "Top 200" companies in the Washington, D.C. area based on 2007 revenue. In January 2008, O'Connell was appointed by the Department of the Interior to serve on its National Geospatial Advisory Committee. He also serves on The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES). O'Connell was elected to the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s (USGIF) Board of Directors and in October 2007 was presented with their Industry Leader award. In June 2007, Mr. O'Connell was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst and Young for Communications in the Washington, D.C. region.
Prior to joining GeoEye, Mr. O’Connell was a managing director at Crest Advisors, a New York-based private merchant bank that invested in and advised communications companies, and Senior Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs for Sony Worldwide Networks, a division of Sony Corporation specializing in radio and Internet programming. Before working at Sony, he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Osborn Communications Corporation, a publicly traded radio and television station operator. Prior to his tenure at Osborn, Mr. O’Connell was the Assistant General Counsel at Cablevision Systems Corporation, where he was responsible for acquisitions and finance, including the company’s initial public offering. Mr. O’Connell began his career on Wall Street as a lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.
Mr. O’Connell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics from Trinity College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia Law School.
William Schuster
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Schuster joined GeoEye in December 2004 as Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the overall management and direction of information technology, operations, international business, North American and government sales, engineering, customer service, order management, facilities and security, product development and management, quality assurance, and business processes. He has over 28 years of experience in operational management, primarily in the space applications and communication systems sectors. Mr. Schuster also has extensive knowledge of the intelligence community from both the government and commercial sectors’ perspectives.
Before coming to GeoEye, Mr. Schuster served as President of Integrated Systems for BAE Systems, Vice President of Programs at Harris Corporation within the Government Communications Systems division, and Vice President of the Space Applications Operation at Loral Space and Range Systems. In addition, he spent nearly 22 years with the Central Intelligence Agency.
Mr. Schuster has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and has completed numerous graduate-level management courses and programs, including the Pennsylvania State University Executive Management Program and the Mahler Advanced Management Skills Program.
Joseph F. Greeves
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Greeves joined GeoEye in June 2009 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and is primarily responsible for the overall management and direction of GeoEye's financial planning, corporate finance, accounting, fiscal reporting, and public company disclosure requirements.
Mr. Greeves has a strong public accounting background with more than 20 years experience as a Chief Financial Officer. During his career, he has served as Chief Financial Officer for four publicly traded companies, where he focused on working with entrepreneurs and management teams to successfully build businesses, raise capital, and grow shareholder value.
Prior to joining GeoEye, Mr. Greeves served for almost seven years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Managed Object Solutions Inc. where he worked with the CEO to build the business, grow the worldwide sales organization and led its capital raising and merger and acquisition programs. Managed Objects sold IT visualization software to commercial and government customers and was acquired by Novell in the fall of 2008. Before joining Managed Objects, he consulted for Lazard Technology Partners as its CFO Executive in Residence. Prior to that, Mr. Greeves was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for OPNET Technologies Inc., a high-tech software development and consulting services business. During his three-year tenure with OPNET, Mr. Greeves led the company through its Initial Public Offering creating over $400 million in market capitalization. Prior to that, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Fusion Systems Corporation and Ogden Environmental and Energy Services Co., a division of Ogden Corporation.
Mr. Greeves graduated from the University of Maryland, is a Certified Public Accountant and began his career as an audit manager at Touche Ross & Co. (now known as Deloitte & Touche).
William L. Warren
Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary
Mr.
Warren joined GeoEye in January 2004 as General Counsel. He is responsible for all
corporate legal guidance and counseling, contracts management, and human resource
functions.
Before coming to GeoEye, Mr. Warren practiced law in the Northern Virginia and Washington,
D.C., offices of the international law firm Latham & Watkins, LLP, for several
years. Prior to that, Mr. Warren was an associate in the New York office of Baker
Botts, L.L.P.
Mr. Warren's legal expertise is in general corporate law, including securities compliance
and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, he specializes in intellectual property
and employment law for high-tech clients in such areas as telecommunications and
satellite technologies, as well as commercial-litigation management.
Mr. Warren received his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas at
Austin and is admitted to practice in Virginia, New York, and the District of Columbia.
Brian O'Toole
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. O’Toole joined GeoEye in August 2008 as Chief Technology Officer. He has global responsibility for developing, managing and expanding GeoEye’s technology, products and solutions in geospatial intelligence and location-based services. He will lead the Company’s strategic efforts to identify and develop new geospatial products, solutions, and services for our customers.
Before joining GeoEye, Mr. O’Toole served as Vice President of Product Management at Overwatch Textron Systems. He was the President and Co-Founder of ITspatial prior to selling to Overwatch. He has served as Director of Washington Operations for MultiGen-Paradigm and director of Infrared/Electro-Optical Simulation Systems at Amherst Systems. He began his career as a systems engineer at GE Aerospace’s Electronic Systems Division in New York.
Mr. O’Toole holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University in New York and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.
