Featured High Resolution Imagery › Rio Baluarte River. Caimanero, Sinaloa, Mexico

This half-meter resolution image of the Rio Baluarte River near the town of Caimanero in the Mexican state of Sinaloa was collected by the GeoEye-1 satellite on Sept. 7, 2009.  The full image features a heavy sediment load and plume spilling from the mouth of the river into the Gulf of California. The swollen river was likely impacted by residual weather from Hurricane Jimena, which tracked north up the United States’ western coast until September 2, 2009. (click to download)
