About This Image
This one-meter resolution satellite image features the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's Campus East at Fort Belvoir's North Area in Springfield, Va. The image was taken on Aug. 9, 2010, at approximately 11:50 a.m., shortly after the NGA's Change of Director Ceremony was held to honor Navy Vice Adm. Robert B. Murrett's departure and welcome Ms. Letitia A. Long's arrival as the new NGA director. The ceremony took place under white tents on top of the parking garage, which overlooks the NGA's newly constructed 2.4-million-square-foot headquarters facility. A glass-covered atrium is seen in the center of the main north and south buildings, which are expected to house 8,500 NGA employees once construction is completed in Sept. 2011. The image has been rotated for optimal viewing.
