About This Image
This half-meter resolution image shows the crowds of people gathered at the Washington Monument and along the National Mall during the 2009 National Cherry Blossom Festival. The GeoEye-1 satellite collected the image on April 4, 2009 during the Peak Blooming period for the white-pink colored cherry trees along the tidal basin. The 16-day event drew a number of cars, buses and people visiting Washington D.C.’s National Monuments.
