FAQs

EyeQ Services

What is EyeQ?
EyeQ is a software-as-a-service platform that provides managed services for searching and acquiring imagery, managing your spatial information and enabling collaborative access across the enterprise. EyeQ combines imagery products with on-demand tools for managing your geospatial information and project-based collaboration.

What software packages work with EyeQ?
EyeQ provides a Web Map Service (WMS) URL that enables users to integrate their EyeQ data into any Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant software. The EyeQ Portal provides direct links to send WMS imagery to ArcGIS (v 9.0 and later) and KML imagery to Google Earth. The “WMS Export” function allows users to stream their data to other OGC-compliant software. For a full list of compliant software, please visit http://www.opengeospatial.org/resource/products/compliant.

What version of WMS/WCS does EyeQ support?
EyeQ supports WMS version 1.1.1 and WCS version 1.0 and 1.1.

What projections and datums does EyeQ support?
Products input into EyeQ are built in Geographic WGS84 projection and datum. The EyeQ service supports UTM, Geographic (Lat/Long) and State Plane for projections. Datums supported include WGS84, NAD83 and NAD27.

What are the specifications for ingesting customer-supplied data?
Customer-supplied data must be in either GeoTiff or NITF format. Projection and datum information should follow the supported formats outlined above. The EyeQ system can display certain fields of metadata, including source vehicle, elevation angle, collection date and ground sample distance. GeoEye will work with the customer during the ingestion if the customer possesses data in formats other than those listed.

How do I integrate EyeQ services into my existing portal?
At this time, EyeQ services are available only in the EyeQ Portal. Application Programming Interfaces and Software Development Kits will be released in the near future.

When I export imagery to ArcGIS, it prompts me for a username and password. Where do I find this information?
As part of EyeQ’s secure web environment, users will need to provide EyeQ credentials when importing data into any Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software. If you do not have credential information, please contact the appropriate representative within your company.

How long does it take for imagery I’ve ordered to appear in EyeQ?
All imagery orders enter GeoEye’s standard process for collection (if applicable) and production. Production times vary based on the size of the area ordered and volume of orders in the queue at the time. The process of ingesting into EyeQ adds a minimal amount of time to the entire process, and is based on current volumes within the ingest system. Ingest time is measured in a matter of minutes or hours, as opposed to days.

EyeQ Portal

What are the minimum system requirements to run EyeQ?
EyeQ is an Internet-browser based portal, and supports Internet Explorer version 6 (or higher) and Mozilla Firefox version 3.0 (or higher). System requirements must be sufficient to run the supported Internet browsers.

How do I add imagery to EyeQ?
Base imagery will be determined upon contract signing with agreement between your company and GeoEye. Additional imagery may be added to an EyeQ account during the contract term, through the GeoEye archive or by requesting a new collection. Please complete a GeoEye Order form, which must include your EyeQ account name and relevant subscription information.

Can I browse the GeoEye archive from within EyeQ?
EyeQ does not currently support integration with the GeoFuse™ Archive Search Tool. Integration will occur in the near future.
