GeoEye OrbView-2 Research Access Eligibility Examples

NOTE: This list is for illustration only, and is not exhaustive. Final determination of specific project eligibility for the research use discount will be made by GeoEye upon application review. All other uses are considered commercial use. The OrbView-2 Data Research Use Terms and Conditions Agreement governs approved research use.

Examples of uses eligible for research discount:

  • Research cruise support
  • Regional or global, climate or ecosystem, process or modeling investigations for publication in public domain scientific literature
  • Algorithm development, validation, and testing for publication in public domain scientific literature
  • Web sites illustrating research results, e.g. animations of chlorophyll a or CDOM concentrations changing with time

Examples of uses NOT eligible for research discount:

  • Making data available to non-approved users, e.g. for web download, transfer, or ftp
  • Operational calibration/validation of other optical sensors (satellite or airborne)
  • Operational monitoring
  • Near-real-time hindcasts, nowcasts, or forecasts
