Satellite Imagery Products
Selecting the right product for your geospatial needs is easy. From basic archive
imagery to 3D stereo collection services, DigitalGlobe imagery products are categorized
according to resolution and positional accuracy. If you need satellite imagery for
visual and interpretive applications that are geometrically accurate and cost-effective,
Geo provides map oriented imagery. In applications that demand greater positional
accuracy – base mapping and planning, online mapping and infrastructure management
– GeoProfessional allows terrain-corrected imagery. And when three-dimensional viewing
and feature recognition are necessary, we offer GeoStereo.
Our imagery products include:

1CE 90% exclusive of terrain displacement; Geo
imagery is not terrain corrected. 2Ground control required, DEM from
NED or stereo may be used as appropriate to achieve specified accuracy. 3Other
accuracies are achievable; please contact a Service Expert with your requirements.
4Ground control required.
NOTE: Imagery sold to commercial customers will be resampled to .50-meter resolution based on DigitalGlobe’s operating license with NOAA.
Geo: Map-Oriented Imagery
If you need satellite imagery for visual and interpretive applications that are
geometrically accurate and cost-effective, Geo provides map oriented imagery. Geo,
the foundation of our imagery product line, is a radiometrically corrected map-oriented
image that can be used for a variety of applications by a wide range of clients
– from environmental monitoring and disaster response to oil and gas exploration.
The Geo is shipped with the sensor camera model in rational polynomial coefficient
(RPC) format. This camera model maps the respective ground coordinates to image
product coordinates. Block adjustment, ortho-rectification, and other photogrammetric
processing can be performed with the RPC camera model. This product, coupled with
a digital elevation model (DEM), permits skilled users to make their own orthorectified
products using standard commercial software and available data sets. Geo imagery
products are available as panchromatic, multispectral, and pan-sharpened color imagery.
GeoProfessional: Terrain-Corrected Imagery
In applications that demand greater positional accuracy – base mapping and planning,
online mapping and infrastructure management – GeoProfessional delivers terrain-corrected
imagery.
GeoProfessional products are perfect for projects requiring
high-resolution imagery and positional accuracy when ground control may be costly,
difficult, or impossible to acquire. GeoProfessional automatically orthorectifies
images, and it offers various levels of accuracy to meet a wide range of needs when
mapping terrain. Its consistent 10-meter CE90 product accuracy provides global access
to 1:10,000 U.S. National Map Accuracy Standards.
GeoStereo: 3-Dimensional Imagery
GeoStereo provides three-dimensional viewing and feature recognition for a number
of applications, including instances when you need to extract 3-D features from
an image – the height of a building, for instance, or stereo visualization of natural
terrain.
- Providing a strong base for three-dimensional feature recognition, extraction and
exploitation, GeoStereo provides two images with stereo geometry to support a wide
range of stereo imagery applications such as DEM creation, building height extraction,
spatial layers, and three-dimensional feature extraction.
- Stereo products in epipolar or map projections provide RPC camera model data, which
supports block adjustment, extraction, DEM generation, ortho-rectification, and
other photogrammetric operations.
- GeoStereo imagery products are available as panchromatic, multispectral, and pan-sharpened
color imagery.
DigitalGlobe View: Visualization-Only Imagery
DigitalGlobe View is an imagery product specifically designed for viewing in Google Earth
and Maps. Images are captured by the GeoEye-1 and IKONOS satellites and then orthorectified
(terrain-corrected) and mosaicked (blended together) by the experts at DigitalGlobe’s
production facility.
DigitalGlobe View takes the technical difficulty out of working with imagery datasets
and makes loading it into Google Earth and Maps as simple as loading a spreadsheet
into Google Documents with the Google Maps Engine and Google Earth Enterprise applications.
