Partnering with Esri
Imagery
Base Layer. DigitalGlobe’s partnership with Esri evolved from our working
together to make DigitalGlobe's imagery archive more accessible to Esri ArcGIS® users.
We have delivered millions of square kilometers of high-resolution IKONOS archive
imagery for Esri to blend with its current imagery data to produce a global, static
cache map layer. This imagery base layer is displayed and served to Esri users via
ArcGIS℠ Online, an online system for working with geographic information through a range
of GIS desktops, web browsers, and mobile devices.
Esri ArcGIS Platform. DigitalGlobe has been using the Esri ArcGIS platform
to meet operations and business objectives for many years. These investments include
the use of ArcMap™ for customer service operations and order management, along with
the deployment of a toolbar for ArcMap that enables archive search and discovery.
We have also invested in the use of ArcGIS for Server for archive catalog hosting and
service provisioning.
Crisis
Response for Esri ArcGIS Users. DigitalGlobe and Esri are currently working
together on joint offerings to bring new solutions to both ArcGIS and DigitalGlobe imagery
users. One example is the DigitalGlobe/Esri Global Crisis Response Service. This effort
augments Esri's current ability to respond to disasters with DigitalGlobe's ability to
task its satellites to collect high-resolution satellite imagery after a crisis.
This new bundled solution is more critical now than ever as current world events
escalate. First responders, government, and commercial risk organizations have a
critical and pressing need to see, understand, and respond to critical events when
lives and property are at risk.
