Advanced Geospatial Analytics
Effective February 1, 2013, GeoEye Analytics™ is now DigitalGlobe Analytics.
DigitalGlobe and GeoEye have combined to become one DigitalGlobe, creating a company
capable of providing greater value to customers through an integrated constellation
and a broader set of products and services.
DigitalGlobe Analytics teams routinely develop predictive analytic
models that process hundreds of layers of geospatial data to identify the physical,
cultural, and social factors that correlate with criminal activity.
Narrowing the Search Space for Criminal Activity
By understanding the geospatial factors that correlate with criminal activity, our
customers can put their scarce people and resources in the right place at the right
time to protect their communities and their business assets. For example, we have
helped financial institutions analyze skimming of their ATM machines and provide
the insight needed to strengthen asset security. In addition, we have supported
the efforts of utility companies to protect their infrastructure at a time when
the price of copper has caused theft of material to skyrocket. By taking a proactive,
information-based approach to prevention, the nation’s critical energy infrastructure
is better protected, thereby ensuring employee safety and supporting an uninterrupted
supply of power, while preventing the loss of material and associated high cost
of replacement.
Cross-discipline Analytical Teamwork
Cross-discipline analytical teamwork is at the core of our methodology. We bring
together subject matter experts and law enforcement with specialists who are skilled
in geospatial analysis and data fusion. We have also developed the expertise and
enabling technology required to process and exploit massive amounts of raster and
vector data. This allows us to quickly discover patterns that may exist across hundreds
of layers of spatial data and process data on the fly to deliver timely insights.
In the case of ATMs, our ability to fuse financial intelligence with geospatial
data and predictive modeling of emerging events enabled our financial client to
mitigate losses, strengthen infrastructure, and interdict adversaries.
