Geospatial Analytics

Effective February 1, 2013, GeoEye Analytics™ is now DigitalGlobe Analytics.

GeoEye and DigitalGlobe have combined to become one DigitalGlobe, creating a company capable of providing greater value to customers through an integrated constellation and a broader set of products and services.

Geospatial analytics is the discipline of uncovering relevant patterns and relationships related to a place. Everything happens somewhere. DigitalGlobe Analytics’ teams routinely develop predictive analytic models that process hundreds of layers of geospatial data to identify the physical, cultural, and social factors that correlate with terrorism and criminal activity.

Narrowing the Space Search. Our technologies and analytic experts support the full spectrum of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations, from the tasking and collection of current, high-resolution earth imagery to multi-source processing, exploitation, and dissemination. By helping our customers understand the geospatial factors that correlate with nefarious activity, we enable them to put their limited people and resources in the right place at the right time. In short, we narrow the search space. This makes it possible to predict where future events such as terrorism are likely to occur.

Primary Benefits

UAV Mission Planning and Resource Optimization. Predictive analytics help collection managers develop more effective tasking strategies by pointing sensors at targets highly correlated with an activity of interest.

Derive Insights From Massive Amounts of Data. We have developed the expertise and enabling technology required to process and exploit massive amounts of raster and vector data. This allows us to quickly discover patterns that may exist across hundreds of layers of spatial data and process data on the fly to deliver timely insights.

Anticipate and Prevent Criminal Activity. Predictive analytics enables police command staff and security professionals to identify the not-so-obvious factors that influence criminal activity. As a result, law enforcement organizations can proactively place scarce policing resources in the right locations to thwart criminal patterns.

Our Approach and Methodology

Multi-Disciplined Analytical Teams. Cross-discipline analytical teamwork is at the core of our methodology. We bring together subject matter experts who understand counter-terrorism and law enforcement with specialists skilled in geospatial analysis and data fusion. This approach allows our customers to focus on their mission while we assemble the right team and tools to provide integrated intelligence solutions.

Advanced Analytic Tools. Our advanced tools use patented statistical methodology to analyze past events in a geospatial context, discovering patterns and relationships to identify where similar events might occur in the future.

Signature Analyst™ is a proven intelligence tool that is used to support counter-terrorism missions around the world. Intelligence analysts, military planners, and law enforcement personnel rely on Signature Analyst to help locate high-value targets, identify weapons caches and safe houses, and disrupt enemy networks.

Proven Customer Engagements

DigitalGlobe Analytics has the expertise and enabling technology required to process and exploit massive amounts of raster and vector data. This allows us to quickly discover patterns that may exist across hundreds of layers of spatial data and then process that data on the fly to deliver timely insights. Our work with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security reflects the solutions we deliver.

Supporting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance. Our team of experienced analysts supports DoD Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) requirements in Africa, the Middle East, Southwest Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific. Our analysts support efforts to better task unmanned aerial vehicles so they can collect valuable intelligence. We also enable our customers to process and exploit the vast amounts of data these new sensors generate.

Making Homeland Security a Force Multiplier on the Home Front. DigitalGlobe Analytics supports predictive policing pilot projects funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in several major metropolitan areas. These pilots demonstrate how our advanced analytic methods, tools, and geospatial predictive software help uncover and/or disrupt terrorist-criminal plots before they occur. In each pilot, our analysts work with law enforcement personnel to develop investigation products using Signature Analyst, a geospatial predictive analytics tool. This process identifies and acquires relevant the spatial and entity data required to discern likely associations, activities, and locations of individuals who might pose a threat to the local population.

Defeating the Improvised Explosive Device Threat. In the global war on terrorism, defeating the improvised explosive device (IED) threat is a top priority for the DoD. DigitalGlobe Analytics delivers predictive intelligence solutions needed to defeat the network of bomb makers and interdict their IED supply chain. Our qualitative and quantitative analytical methodologies and advanced data-discovery tools assist DoD commands and agencies in this critical mission.
