In areas of rugged topography, DEMs can be strikingly
beautiful. DEMs offer a visual interpretation of topography where
black areas represent low elevation and become increasingly lighter
with altitude.

baseline topography. Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) establish the
foundation of geographic information and can be useful in mapping,
hydrology, slope stability studies, and 3D visualization.
