Emirates, Abu Dhabi has a population of nearly 800,000. Most of
the region is inhospitable desert, but irrigation has turned the
coast, shown in this Landsat 5 image, into a farming area. Saudi
Arabia lies to the south and west, Dubai to the east and Oman to
the south and east.
