Dolomite Mountains - Italian Alps
This one-meter resolution image of the Dolomite Mountains (Dolomiti)
was collected October 25, 2000 by GeoEye's IKONOS satellite.
The image features Italy's breathtaking Alps located approximately
one hour's drive north of Venice. The Dolomites are comprised of
sheer rock walls forming 3,000 foot, needle-like pinnacles, large
limestone plateaus, deep verdant valleys, alpine meadows and villages
and the emerald green, Lake Misurina-known as the "pearl of
the Dolomites."
